Electrical wiring is nearly complete. Three electrical panels are installed in the yard equipment room. Why three boxes? The left two comprise the 400-amp service from the power company, and the third ("solar") is intended for a future solar power system. All circuits in this box will be fed from a battery-powered inverter that will keep these circuits live if grid power fails. Initially the batteries will be charged from the grid, but ultimately solar panels will charge them. Here is a block diagram of the electrical system (PDF opens in a new browser window; close it to come back here).
A river of cables connect the boxes to the rest of the house.
Yesterday the electrician begain installing receptacles and switches, and today continued with some lighting fixtures. This is the master bath with the electrical fixtures installed.
The electricians installed most of the lighting fixtures and turned on power to them. Here's the hobby room with the lights on.
